What do we mean when we say Hip Joint?

Let's get clear on what I mean when I say hip joint. As with most parts of the anatomy what I say when I say hip joint might mean a different thing to you. Just like if I say where does your arm begin, might be a different place than you think. That's another story over in the Shoulders and Arms Workshop Program.

When we are talking about the Hip Joint we are discussing the ball and socket joint itself. It is formed by the upper end of the femur bone which is shaped like a ball, rolling in the socket of the pelvis know as the acetabulum (as″ĕ-tab´u-lum).
